On 1st March 2006 Uruguay became the 1st Latin American country to go smoke-free.		2006年3月1日に、ウルグアイは、中南米で最初に禁煙化を実施する国となった。
All indoor public places workplace (including bars and restaurants) are smoke free under a presidential decree issued on 5th September 2005.		2005年9月5日に公布された大統領令により、すべての屋内公共空間と屋内の職場（バーおよびレストランを含む）が禁煙となっている。
230 inspectors are reported to be monitoring enforcement of the ban, which carries fines of up to $US1000.		230人の検査官が、法が守られているかどうかを監視しているとの報告がある。罰金は、最大で1,000米ドル（*2005年の年間平均レートで約11万1,210円）である。
