A law came into force on 5th April 2004 prohibiting smoking in certain public places, including hospitals, government departments, schools, sports centres and offices providing public service.		2004年4月5日に、一定の公共の場所での喫煙を禁止する法律が施行された。公共の場所には、病院、政府の省庁、学校、スポーツセンター、役所が含まれる。
Smoking is also prohibited on public transport and on flights, in cinemas, theatres and television studios.		喫煙はまた、公共交通機関、航空機内、映画館、劇場、テレビのスタジオで禁止されている。
From 5th October 2004, bars and restaurants with an area of over 60 square meters had either to become smoke-free, or have a designated smoking room.		2004年10月5日からは、床面積が60平方メートルを超えるバーとレストランは、禁煙とするか、一定の喫煙室を備えた分煙とするかを選択しなければならなくなった。
From 5th April 2005, smoking is prohibited in all enclosed public and private premises that which are open to the public.		2005年4月5日からは、一般人が立ち入る可能性のあるすべての屋内公共空間と屋内民間施設での喫煙が禁止された。
This includes all premises where food and drink are served.		これには、食べ物と飲み物が供されるすべての施設が含まれる。
All workspaces are also covered by the regulations, and this includes any adjacent corridor, lobby, stairwell, elevator, lift, cafeteria, washroom or other common area frequented by employees during the course of their employment.		すべての職場もまた、この法により規制される。職場には、廊下、ロビー、階段、エレベーター、カフェテリア、洗面所、あるいはその他の従業員が勤務の過程で立ち寄る可能性のあるすべての共用部分が含まれる。
Designated smoking rooms are permitted in any establishment covered by the regulation.		法が規制するすべての施設において一定の喫煙所を設けることが認められている。
Designated smoking rooms must:		この喫煙所は以下の条件を満たしていなければならない：
	・be totally separate from areas or rooms normally occupied by non smokers		・非喫煙者が通常使用するエリアあるいは部屋から完全に隔離されていること。
	・have walls from floor to ceiling		・床から天井まで壁があること。
	・have all apertures leading onto other closed areas, or rooms, tight fitting, and be kept so closed while the premises are open for business		・他の部屋や密閉されたエリアに通ずる出入り口のドアは空気が漏れない構造になっていなければならず、その施設の業務時間内は常に閉じられていなければならない。
	・be clearly marked as being reserved for persons who smoke		・喫煙に使用するための部屋であることを明確に表示していなければならない。
	・be situated so that they do not require non-smokers to pass through them.		・非喫煙者がその部屋を通り抜ける必要のない位置に作られていなくてはならない。
